Snow action in Eastern Europe

Come winter time, most European budget travelers (especially those from the UK) hie it off to the mountains to get some snow action. Andorra has cornered this market for a long time. Sandwiched between Spain and France, Andorra offers great prices (including duty-free goods), good ski schools, reliable snow, easy and well groomed slopes (not really challenging for the advanced skiers and boarders, though).

Recently, however, some resorts in Andorra are starting to target a different breed of customers. It seems a lot like they are targetting the more affluent crowd as they improve their facilities and… increase their prices.

So, what are the other options available for European budget skiers and snowboarders? Eastern Europe, where else?

Understandably, when going to budget destinations, one should not expect all the fluff and extras which expensive resorts offer. Facilities are, more often than not, limited. After all, what you pay for is often what you get.

Slovak Republic - this region is getting the influx of skiers and boarders who used to go to Andorra.
