Sleeping in your car

by Melissa Atienza-Petri on March 31st, 2007

Driving in Europe and short of cash? I guess, if you are desperate and do not have the moolah to sleep in a hostel, you can sleep in your car.  It’s uncomfortable with a bit of a security risk (depending on your location) but it sure is the cheapest way to get some sleep during your travels.

I, personally, would NOT recommend this but if you are desperate…

  • You can park in gas stations which also serve as truck stops.  Make sure you park in a well-lit area.
  • Look for campgrounds where you can park for a very low amount of money. It’s safe and you will have access to a kitchen and a toilet & bath.
