See Berlin by bus - for cheap!

Berlin is a city full of transportation options: U-Bahns (subways), S-Bahns (city trains), buses and trams await to whisk you across this giant metropolis in one integrated network. For around 6 euros you can purchase a day ticket and use as much of the transportation system as you like.

While the underground options are the most efficient when you’re looking for speed, time isn’t the only consideration that tourists should make when deciding what method of transport to use. Staying above-ground allows you to take in the sites and see different neighborhoods as you get from point A to point B.

Everyone’s favorite bus route in Berlin is the Bus 100, which runs from Zoo Station in the west to Alexanderplatz in the east, traveling by a whole load of Berlin’s top sites, including Brandenburger Tor, the Reichstag, and the Berliner Dom, just to name a few. It serves nicely as a do-it-yourself hop-on hop-off tour of the city, although you’ll have to provide your own commentary (one person in your party can read aloud from the guidebook as you drive by the sites, for example). The top front seats are the prime real estate in this double-decker bus - when you board, head up the stairs quickly and you just might score them.
