Even though I’ve lived relatively close to the Alps for many years now, when visiting them I’m often overcome with the feeling of being very, very far away from everything. This photo is of a glacier at the Jungfrau, once of Switzerland’s most famous Alps. I highly recommend visiting the Jungfrau region if you ever get the chance.

I’m not sure the Jungfrau fits in the Europe on a shoestring concept! Although I guess you don’t have to go up it…
I’ve been in Switzerland for 20 years and still not been to the top!

We went with a large group of Swiss folks - most of whom had never been themselves. They thought it was just something for tourists…
If you have a train pass of some sort (for the Jungfrau region or all of CH) already, the extra cost to get to Jungfraujoch isn’t too extreme.
