Paris Museums on the Cheap

by Melissa Atienza-Petri on June 6th, 2007

louvre parisWith my family in tow, we will be visiting friends in Paris from the 9th until the 11th of this month. My bestfriend sent me some valuable information which pleased my budget-conscious, museum loving sister no end.

Apparently, several city museums (those run by Mairie de Paris) are open for FREE. Plus, several national museums have either reduced rates or are free at a particular day.

City museums run by Mairie de Paris which are open and free for all are Musee Atelier Zadkine, Musee Bourdelle, Musee Carnavalet, Musee Cernuschi, Musee Cognacq-Jay, Musee de Balzac, Musee de Victor Hugo, Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Musee de la Vie Romantique, Musee des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris and Musee Jean Moulin.

National Museums, on the other hand, are FREE for everyone every first Sunday of the month. Musee d’Orsay, the Louvre, Musee Picasso, Musee Rodin, the Pantheon and Notre Dame, among others are classified as National Museums.
