Fast food from a machine in Amsterdam

Just when you thought fast food couldn’t get any more efficient: the Dutch chain Febo offers burgers, croquettes, chicken wings and more… all out of vending machines. There are over 20 Febo locations in Amsterdam, and over 50 in the Netherlands.

The chicken wings aren’t in the vending machines but you can get them from behind the counter.
Advice to anyone who eats from these machines: Don’t get the burgers, they are horrible, do get the croquettes though as they are a good and efficient snack in you’re on the go.

You can get a lot of food items out of vending machines in Tokyo too and I’ve even seen hamburgers but haven’t had the nerve to try them. I didn’t know this was done elsewhere too. I guess you have to questions most food that comes from a machine though…

I don’t think I’ve ever seen vending machines selling prepared food in Toronto - just pop, chocolate bars, chips…the usual!

Trying not to sound too much like an old fart, this concept was in the US about 100 years ago. The Horn and Hardart Automats were all over big cities like NY and Philly. They had a reputation for good food at very low prices. They went away in the 60’s and 70′ when the company that owned them could make more money leasing the stores to Burger King.

And we don’t even have soda machines in my neck of the woods :(
Shane, I had a “hot sandwich” from a vending machine in JP, and it was totally edible. I am a vending machine freak and tried everything from curry to mixed rice.
Now I need to check these Dutch babies out! ;)

Looks like Amsterdam is somewhat like Japan in way. There is a fascination with getting food out of a machine I guess. Some I know would never even consider this but I guess it is a cultural thing.

As an American living in Amsterdam I think they are fantastic! It’s like big bites or taquitos sitting around at 7-11 which Americans buy all the time. Nice thing with these machines is that they are truly fast food!

Why is it so boring? the choice of food is basic and boring……………..think about it………..you are in the city that has the biggest percentage of stoners in the world but you dont get things like………….Banana crepes with Nutella chocolate sauce…………………mozzarella sticks………….the greasy high calorie is stuff is not there!
What junkie would dream of 1 of those burgers or croquettes?
So……….Lets all chip in together buy the company and introdue some imagination to the choice!
