Essential travel gear: Pack-It Cubes

by jul on May 11th, 2008

51cCDeqtIxLAs a frequent traveler, I have tried several systems for keeping my clothes organized inside my luggage. The one I am currently using is Eagle Creek Pack-It Cubes. They are far more sturdy and durable than other similar items I’ve tried, and so far I’m really happy with them (I bought them back in November). The cubes keep my clothes organized and wrinkle-free, and make it easier to feel organized when digging around in a large suitcase.

How do you pack your clothes for travel? Do you use something like Pack-It Cubes, or do you just toss everything in loose?

I just throw everything in my backpack; in fact I treat my clothes as useful packing for my camera :-)

But I do tend to wear clothes that won’t crease. And I travel very light. If you’re travelling with more stuff, particularly on business, these pack-it cubes look like a good solution.

My personal favourite packing accessory - zip lock bags. Useful for darn well everything!

True, when I’m traveling for leisure it’s usually pretty wrinkle-free stuff I’m wearing anyway. My husband and I often share one big suitcase when we travel on longer trips (instead of bringing 2 smaller ones). I especially love these for keeping my clothes separate from his!

Wow, these are great! I tend to just lay everything in a suitcase, but these look like a much better option!

This is a great idea, especially when I travel for business.

Those would be great for me because I tend to pack clothes for myself and my two daughters in one large suitcase (my husband takes a smaller one for himself and any extra stuff like toiletries and books). I do try to be neat but it doesn’t work that well and eventually everything ends up all over the place.

the travel folders from teh same company are great for keeping bigger items (button down shirts, suits, etc) wrinkle free as well. i love my organized suitcase :)

I try to be organized and roll up the shirts. but they do get wrinkled. one way i deal with it is just bring a de-wrinkler spray, or hang the clothes right after arriving.

I’m with Andrea- I just use large ziplock bags. However, these look like a much better and more permenant solution. What I’m wondering though is how well they pack in a cilindrical backpack. I imagine for a suitcase they’re fine, but for a backpack I don’t know if the harder sides would work well.
