Dracula and Skiing on a Budget
When we hear Transylvania, most of us have images of Dracula and eerie castles in our heads. But, there is more to this (in-?) famous place that a lot of us probably never did get the chance to find out… like Sinaia.
Sinaia is Romania’s best skiing resort.
“It has a sub-Alpine montane-corridor climate with cool summers (July average temperature 14-16°C) and winters that are not too cold due to the mountains sheltering the resort (January average temperature -3.5°C). The annual average temperature is of about 6.5°C and the precipitation averages 800 - 1,000 mm annualy. In winter there is pleanty of snow, the snow blanket persisting from the end of September till the end of March.” more…
Sinaia has 16 ski runs with a total piste length of 50km. It’s longest ski run is 6km, with a vertical difference of 1030m.
Not only that. When you’re done with skiing, there is always something else to keep you entertained. Apart from après ski bars, you can hie it off to the Royal Castle or the casino.
Yet another budget ski vacation option for those who are on a budget. Prices are definitely a lot lower than its western neighbors.
