Cheapest Accommodation in Switzerland
Switzerland is definitely not what you’d call a budget traveler’s paradise. The land of banks, chocolates and watches will definitely cost you more than most of its neighboring countries.
However, you’d be surprised to find out that it is actually possible to sleep in Switzerland for less than 20Euros per person per night, including the use of blankets and breakfast.
The catch? You would have to sleep on straw. And by straw, I am not talking about what you use to sip drinks.
On a more positive note, you’d be happy to know that sleeping on straw is actually verrry comfortable.
Schlaf im Stroh is a network of around 200 Swiss barns located all over Switzerland (where else?!). Available in the summer, farmers clean the barns and lay dow fresh hay. So while the cows are up in pasture, budget travelers can sleep in their “rooms”.
Interesting, ain’t it?
