Cheap European Cruise

by Melissa Atienza-Petri on May 30th, 2005

The was a time when taking cruises was never an option for budget travellers. All that has changed when easyGroup announced their newest venture, easyCruise. Just like easyJet, another easyGroup stake, budget is the name of the game.

A trip could cost as little as US$50/night. Of course, just like the budget airline, one should not expect to be pampered and to cruise in luxury. No stewards dressed ala penguin will be there to answer every passenger’s request; food and drinks are not included; and, most cabins are window-less and offer basic amenities. Oh yea, almost everything is Orange!

The idea is to offer a unique holiday experience to independently minded travelers in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. During the summer of 2005, our first ship, named easyCruiseOne (see our ship) will be based in the French and the Italian Rivieras , one of the most glamorous parts of the world, known globally as the playground for the rich and famous.

Unlike traditional cruising, the ship will stay in port in the afternoon and the evening to encourage people to have fun ashore and sail in the early hours of each morning for the next destination. The flexible one week itineraries allow you to embark and depart at any port on the route provided you stay on board at least two nights.

Check out the official homepage of easyCruise for more info. Just make sure that if and when you do board easyCruise, do not, under any circumstances, wear orange… or you might just, literally, blend in the background.
