Cheap Eats in Germany

by Melissa Atienza-Petri on October 17th, 2006

There are so many dining options for budget travelers in Germany. You do not even have to step foot inside a McDonald’s outlet in order to fill your stomach and save money.

Cheap meals are available at…

  • an Imbiss, take-away food stands which are scattered all over the country. You can find all sorts of imbisses, from chinese and thai food to german sausages, doener kebabs and roasted chicken.
  • the Mensa, school cafeteria. They serve cheap German (most of the time) food. They have a large choice of dishes and drinks for a very cheap price.

Or… you can always self-cater. Head over to budget supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl for the cheapest deal possible.
