Charles-de-Gaul bound
I’m headed back to Europe today (yippee!).
I try to book direct flights whenever I can, but sometimes connections are hard to avoid. At times there’s just no direct route; other times adding a stopover will greatly decrease the cost of a ticket. So I cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Unfortunately for me, I never seem to get a break when it comes to Air France connections in Paris’s Charles de Gaul airport. I’ve missed more connecting flights there than anywhere else, and their record of losing my bags is pretty absurd. One time I ended up in New York with no luggage, and had to borrow clothing for the wedding I was attending.
Today’s flight involves a transfer in Charles de Gaul because the ticket was by far the cheapest one we could find. I’m considering today their last chance; if they don’t get me and my luggage to my destination on time, I’m boycotting.
Wish me luck.
Are there any airports you refuse to use?

There was a time when Qantas flights from Australia to Europe would alternately travel via either Singapore or Bangkok each day. It only took me two trips via Bangkok to learn that it was a horrible, hot, smoky airport and that Singapore’s airport is like a luxury resort in comparison (in fact, it holds that comparison well against every other airport I’ve been to). From that time on, I’ve always insisted on taking the flights that go via Singapore.
In recent years, it seems that Qantas has had the same opinion, as they don’t seem to have any through flights at all on to Europe from Bangkok, now. Evidentally, the airport has now been mostly replaced by a newer one, so perhaps it’s safe to return ;)
