With the low-cost airline boom in Europe, it’s pretty easy to hop on a plane and explore a new part of the continent. But that doesn’t mean train travel is a thing of the past - not by a long shot. Europe’s rail network is still a fabulous way to get around. Here are just […]

As someone who has been stuck at the Athens airport during a strike just like today’s, I understand how frustrating it can be. No flights, trains, ferries, subways, buses… and a queue for a taxi that extends farther than you can see. Here are a few tips I’d have for someone in the same situation:
Relax. […]

I think Orbitz was the first online travel site I ever booked through, years and years ago, but recently it has been frustrating me. Not quite enough to keep me away when their fares pop up as the lowest on Kayak or Sidestep, though. I usually end up booking plane tickets through Orbitz at least […]

Airberlin is one of the European “no-frills” airlines which has started offering flights between the US and Europe for great low prices. Currently Airberlin is featuring especially low rates between New York and Germany for the month of April 2008, with a one-way ticket as low as US$282 (including taxes and fees). This low fare was available for the fastest trains (with seat reservations), and I didn’t […]

I’m headed back to Europe today (yippee!).
I try to book direct flights whenever I can, but sometimes connections are hard to avoid. At times there’s just no direct route; other times adding a stopover will greatly decrease the cost of a ticket. So I cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Unfortunately for me, I […]

Just like in other countries, flying to another (relatively nearby) airport may be better for your wallet in the Netherlands.
If you are planning to visit Amsterdam and find that flights to Schiphol Airport are pricey, you may want to consider checking flights to Eindhoven and Rotterdam Airports.
Cheap Flights to these airports can be found here: […]

You can get to most tourist destinations by foot. The city is flat and relatively small. Walking from one tourist site to another would be good for your health and your wallet. Plus, you’ll really see everything in detail.
There’s a wide range of budget hostels which would fit any Budget Traveler’s budget. […]
