Venice Carnival 2007

by Melissa Atienza-Petri on February 11th, 2007

Are you planning to take part in Venice’s pre-Lenten bacchanalia? If you are, here are a few tips on how you can keep the cost down while enjoying the carnival festivities in Comune di Venezia for Venice Carnival 2007:

Cheap Eats in Venice

  • Look for a Pizzeria and avoid the more expensive Ristorantes. If you’ve got a few more Euros to burn, a trattoria would be ok.
  • You can make sure that your bill will be within your budget if you choose to eat in places where the menu is posted outside.
  • An Italian experience is never complete without taking part in the coffee drinking culture. Budget options for your coffee drinking experience can be found here.
  • CHEAPEST OPTION: Check out the supermarkets and self-cater.

Others

  • take the traghetto rather than the much much more expensive gondola.
  • Thank your lucky stars that the Carnival is held in winter time. That means that you can book a cheaper hotel on Lido Island. It’s easy to get there to/from Venice using the vaporetto.
