Dopplr and Joost Invites
There are two new online services being offered which may be of interest to travelers.
Dopplr is an online service for frequent travelers. “It lets you share your future travel plans with a group of trusted fellow travellers whom you have chosen. It also reminds you of friends and colleagues who live in the cities you’re planning to visit. You can use the service with your personal computer and mobile phone.”

Joost – which is formerly known as Venice project – “is a new way of watching TV on the internet. With Joost, you get all the things you love about TV, including a high-quality full-screen picture, hundreds of full-length shows and easy channel-flipping“. It’s perfect for those who travel with their laptop to countries where they speak another language. Of course, you wouldn’t be staring at the screen while on vacation but it could help keep you entertained while everyone else is asleep and there is nothing in English on TV.
Thing is, both Joost and Dopplr have gone the gmail way. Both services are open by invitation only. It’s who you know and not what you know. The only way to get an invite is to find someone who has one.
I have joost invites to give away. If you want one… all you need to do is to leave a comment here. As for Dopplr, I am afraid I cannot help you there as I am currently searching for someone to give me an invitation as well.
