While the students are home for the summer, budget travelers can stay at University dormitories for minimal cost.
University of Westminster, King’s College and the London School of Economics are just a few of those who rent out student dorm rooms during school breaks.
Wherever in Europe you may decide to travel this summer, check out google for Universities in the area.  You may get lucky and find one or two which might be offering cheap accommodations.

Sleeping in your car

Sleeping in your car

Driving in Europe and short of cash? I guess, if you are desperate and do not have the moolah to sleep in a hostel, you can sleep in your car.  It’s uncomfortable with a bit of a security risk (depending on your location) but it sure is the cheapest way to get some sleep during your travels.
I, personally, would NOT recommend this but if you are desperate…

You can park in gas stations which also serve as truck stops.  Make sure you park in a well-lit area.
Look for campgrounds where you can park for a very low amount of money. It’s …read more

RyanAir ties up with Expedia

RyanAir ties up with Expedia

Expedia (NASDAQ:EXPE) is RyanAir’s (NASDAQ:RYAAY) new partner to provide hotel accommodations.
What does this mean for us?
Convenience.  Hotel bookings can now be done via RyanAir’s website. And in 2008, tailor-made hotel deals will also be incorporated into the flight booking process.
Yay!
Hopefully, we’ll be spared of the destination twists (like Frankfurt Hahn airport which is nowhere near Frankfurt) and price catches (the ++ in prices) which we have seen.

Deutsch Marks are not worthless

Deutsch Marks are not worthless

Do you have left over Deutsch Marks from your trip to Germany many years ago?  If you are not really interested in keeping it as a souvenir, you may be able to use the cash by exchanging it for Euros.

Now, go check out your stash of foreign …read more
