Cheap Eats in Stockholm

Stockholm restaurant scene is impressive. The city offers a big variety of dining options with high quality. Of course, this comes with a price. After all, Stockholm — in general — is not exactly a haven for budget travelers.

But, you need not starve. Even in expensive places, you will be able to find something to fill you up, without going way beyond your budget.

  • When in doubt and in a hurry, there’s always McDonalds. Of course, this should only be your last recourse.
  • You can also look for a grocery store and self-cater. Hemköp under the T-Central station is your best bet.
  • Look for a pizzeria. They are all over and more often than not, it will be within your budget.

I’d say that Hemköp in T-Centralen isnt the cheapest place to get some food.

Like many places in europe you can find a lot of “Kebab” sandwiches. You can also get those “Korv med bröd” (hot dogs) served on the street. There is indeed many pizzerias but North American beware, it isnt like the one we know. It is pretty different (just so you know).

In my own opinion it might be interesting to know where is the cheapest place to eat but while traveling why not trying the cultural food ?

Köttbullar (swedish Meatballs) is a good example.

This said, i’m a Canadian who moved to Sweden and i wish you a nice stay in Sweden!

    Thanks for the tips, Yan!

I agree – I eat local food as much as possible on vacation (although no Swedish meatballs for me – I’m a vegetarian :) .

    Hi,

I’m visitng Stockholm from Canada this July with my family and waswondering if you would mind suggesting a few inexpensive but good places to eat. We are going to be mostly staying in the Norrmalm/Gamla Stan areas of the city. This is our first trip to Stockholm and can’t wait to explore. Thanks, J. Bennett
