Christmas Markets in Germany

The smell, sights, sounds and the mood of Christmas permeats the German air with the help of Christmas Markets.  The smell of stolen, gluehwein, sausages, lebkuckhen; the sound of christmas carols and the sight of colored lights and sparking decorations.

Christmas Markets (locally known as Weihnachtsmarkt or Christkindlesmarkt) can be found all over Germany. It is an experience you definitely would not want to miss.

If you are still uttering Bah Hambug, a trip to any German town for a quick romp around the Christmas market might just do the trick and even get you to start singing Joy the World.

Should you be coming from another European city, you’d be glad to know that several budget airlines fly to Germany.

Should you be coming from the US, you can save a lot of money if you take advantage of the winter season sales.  Naturally, you should not fly around Christmas as it is considered peak season.  Try to come as early as now until the 21st of December.   You’d be paying a lot less if you do.

Want an authentic yet cheaper experience? Choose to travel and see smaller German towns.
