Budget Copenhagen
Copenhagen is not really as expensive as everyone thinks it is. And even if you are really on a very tight budget, there are still options open to travelers like you. Here are just a few:
Accommodations
- Danish Hostels are reasonably priced. And are even cheaper during the low season. They are located all over.
- Cheapest Option: Go Camping! Check out Copenhagen City Camp, Camping Absalon and FDM Camping Tangloppen, among others.
Food and Drinks
- Self-cater. Go buy supplies at supermarkets like Aldi and Netto.
- Take-away food. They’re called smørrebrød shops.
Transport
- You can take the local bus, train or metro (which operates with a common fare system). If you will be traveling within Copenhagen a lot, buy a discount card. It costs DKK115 for 10 journeys. You can buy them at train stations, supermarkets and kiosks.
Keep in Touch with the people back home… surf the net for free at the Central Library.
Visit a museum for FREE. Most are free if you go there on a Wednesday.
