European Backpacking on $25 a Day

European Backpacking on $25 a Day

Promising, ain’t it?
If you want to find out exactly how to do it, you would have to read through 25 chapters with ca. 100,000 words.  At least, you wouldn’t have to shell out some money to buy a book. You can read it online.
No time to read?  Then, come back here tomorrow for the highlights of the book.

Splurge, if you must…

Splurge, if you must…

The cost of food can easily wreck your travel budget. There are ways to save and keep our food budget to a minimum while traveling however, there are also times when you just want to have at least one great meal which could complete your European experience.
If so, splurge (cost is relative!) on a meal or two.
And if you do, keep in mind that:

You should do so at lunch, instead of dinner. Lunch in expensive restaurants are cheaper.

Discover Slovenia on a Budget

Discover Slovenia on a Budget

Quaint and beautiful Slovenia is perfect for budget travelers. It’s safe, interesting and inexpensive (cost is rising, though, but is still relatively cheap, in comparison to its western neighbors).
HOW TO GET THERE: Ljubljana, the capital, is the gateway to Slovenia if you want to fly. Budget airlines that fly to Slovenia are WizzAir and easyJet although, they only fly from London and Brussels. You can also fly to Vienna or Zagreb and just take the train to Slovenia.

Outsmarting Priceline

Outsmarting Priceline

Many have opined that Priceline is one of the best (if not “the” best) way to get a great travel deal online.
It is, if you know what you are looking for and if you are lucky. If not, you may have to pay more for what you could have had for less. Tricky, eh?
Unless…

Traveling from London Airports

Traveling from London Airports

There are 4 “London” Airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted. Interestingly, none of which are really located in London. Heathrow is in Middlesex, Gatwick is in Sussex, Luton is in Bedfordshire and Standsted is in Essex.
So when you arrive, you need to figure out a way to get to London from those places.
It is always very convenient to arrive at the airport and have someone pick you up. It is also less of a hassle if you can just head for the nearest exit and hail a taxi. However, if you don’t have a local friend or …read more

To get this big discount, you should travel onboard SNCB, the Belgian Rail on a weekend. Of course, you need to schedule your return on the same weekend. So best to get an early start and leave on Friday at 19:01, the earliest time when the offer becomes valid.

Skiing or Snowboarding in Europe

Skiing or Snowboarding in Europe

Want to travel all the way to Europe to get your annual fix of the white stuff?
Here are a few information which may help you decide:

“The mountains in Europe are simply bigger — grand, jagged, rugged, inspiring and soaring.”
“In Europe, vertical drop is rarely mentioned when discussing resorts, but averages more than double of those in the U.S.A.”
“Europeans have a different attitude towards skiing and snowboarding — far more relaxed, leisurely and social. “

And when it comes to $ or €:

“Lift tickets at European resorts are far more reasonable that in the USA”
“In Europe après-ski seems to be an …read more
