10 Things I Hate About Budget Travelling
This post is part of Darren’s Lists – Group Writing Project.
Life throws us curveballs when we least expect it. When travelling on a budget, however, we sometimes need to brace ourselves even more and practice some fancy footwork in order to dodge all those extra curveballs that seem to always come in threes… or fours… fives…
Having said that, here are the 10 things I hate about budget travelling:
- Running out of money at the end of the trip. Airport accommodations, anyone?
- Finding what seem to be the best thing you could ever own at the best ever price which you do not have the budget for.
- Fellow budget travellers (believe me, there are tons of them out there) who probably think that taking a shower would cost extra. Add to that the seemingly lack of spaces in their backpacks for deodorants.
- The ++ after a price. Why can’t they just advertise using the price we need to pay in the end?
- The need for earplugs.
- co-ed bathrooms in Europe
- you just can’t trust lockers in a lot of hostels
- bad choice in travel partner to keep the cost down
- overspending is a big no-no and yet, it seems to be patiently waiting at the end of every corner
- The fact that I am on a tight budget!!!
I’d like to clarify that much as I hate those things, I still adjust everytime I do travel on a budget. It’s part of the experience. And, yes, the things I love about travelling far outweighs what I hate about doing it on a tight budget. So there!
