Visiting Museums in Cyprus

Visiting Museums in Cyprus

“Cyprus is a modern country that effortlessly marries European culture with ancient enchantment. Here you will discover a compact world of alluring beaches and fragrant mountain peaks, vineyards studded with olive trees and ancient ruins that stir the imagination, citrus groves and old stone villages where sweet wine flows as freely as conversations at the local café.”
You will not run out of things to do in Cyprus. However, you may want to take a look at the various Museums (think medieval, archeological, folk art and natural history, among others), should you find the time.
The good news: Museums are FREE on …read more

Home Stay in Bulgaria

Home Stay in Bulgaria

When in Bulgaria and you plan to venture out of Sofia, the capital city, consider staying in private homes.  It’s considerably cheaper than staying in hotels. Think 40-60% less!
With private home rentals, apart from saving money, you get to see the real Bulgaria, as well.   Hostels are also way cheaper than hotels (obviously) but your options are limited if you choose to go out of Sofia.
Check out Travellerspoint for availability in the areas you plan to visit.

Euro and Dollar Exchange Rate

Euro and Dollar Exchange Rate

Early this month, the Euro leaped high against the dollar.  This means that everything now is more expensive for Americans in Europe.
Should you  be heading off to Europe anytime soon, note that:

it is best to buy your Euros in Europe.
if you have to withdraw money from your ATM, try to make large withdrawals (hence less often) to minimize fees.

Feel better about the cheap World Cup digs you scored

Feel better about the cheap World Cup digs you scored

Germany may be spending 3,000 Euros per night for each player.  And all the other teams would shell out 200-500 Euros per night for each player.  But, the Spanish will be staying at the cheapest hotel, in comparison to all the other teams. Get this, the most expensive room they have cost 99 Euros per night!
It looks a lot like you won’t be the only one roughing it during the games.  To think, those Spanish guys need to train and play. All you need to do is watch and party!

Cheap Eats in Paris – Falafel

Cheap Eats in Paris – Falafel

Why Travel to France recommends L’As du Fallafel (Falafel Ace). Apparently, they have the best falafels in Paris.
What is a Falafel? It’s a Middle-Eastern fried ball or patty of spiced fava beans or chickpeas. It is a highly popular form of fast food in the Arab East. It is traditionally served as a filling ingredient in a pita bread wrap
Falafels are not only delicious, it’s filling AND cheap, too!

Camping during the World Cup 2006

Camping during the World Cup 2006

It’s the 8th of May and you still have yet to book a hostel for your stay during the World Cup.  Let me just take this chance to say… “what were you thinking?!”
If you have no friends who you can beg to stay with, camping may be the only chance you have now.
If your game venue is in Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen and Cologne, worldcup-camp.com has several camp sites with good facilities.  Rates are relatively cheap. You can even rent a tent, if you do not have one.
For other venues, you may want to check out World Cup Camping forum for leads.
