The B5Media network:

tickets for the World Cup in Germany

I live a few minutes away from Frankfurt Stadion, one of the venues for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Apart from the buzz that it has created online, I am also exposed to males whose reactions range from giggly to downright annoyed when the topic of tickets for the world cup comes up.

Apparently, one does not just need the money to score ‘em tickets. One has to jump through hoops, run a mile and eat fire, as well. And doing all that would not even guarantee that you get a ticket for the match!

Budget travelers who plan to come to Germany may be willing to jump through hoops, run a mile and eat fire BUT, sadly, cannot dig deeper to pay for a ticket. I have one suggestion:

Apart from the fact that you can count on gaining a bit more weight, you may (notice the change in modal verbs!) also be one of the lucky 5,000 to win a ticket for the World Cup. All you have to do is, obviously, go to any branch of McDonalds… in Germany. An order of a Spar, Maxi and Big Tasty Menus will get you 2, 4 and 6 (respectively) stickers which are attached to your food/drink package. It’s like playing Monopoly – hence the name “McDonald’s Geschenke Monopoly” — where you get a card which occasionally results in getting play money. Only this time, you get freebies.

Once you’ve scored a ticket, let me know ;-)

For those who are definitely coming over, I will post more budget options for travel and housing within Germany later. Unfortunately, every single space in my flat is already occupied. Even the kitchen floor is already reserved for 2 sleeping bags.

For future WM news, check out the Footie. Martha will surely keep you up to date with what is happening.
