Coffee in Venice
An Italian experience is never complete without taking part in the coffee drinking culture. And in Venice, a quintessential tourist town, the price could be outrageously expensive. St. Mark’s Square, which lies in the heart of Venice, may have the best view and ambience but coffee comes at a price… 7.50Euro. Granted that this comes with a spectacular view and the sounds of the open-air orchestra playing in the square, it may be beyond the spending plan of budget traveler you.
Budget options? Bring a flask of coffee from your rented apartment or hotel room. I know, sounds tacky but hey, you wanted options! Best would be to just walk a few steps aways from the center where you can get coffee for 2.50Euro. Believe me, there is no difference in taste between the 7.50 and the 2.50 coffee.
Note that tourists are prone to breaking the Italian coffee drinking social rules. If you do not want to be the subject of a local’s secret smile, check out Coffee in Italy, a short guideline I wrote over at Fine Fools’ Escape Blog.
